Am I eligible to go on a YMI College Age Mission Experience?
Here are our qualifications for College Age Mission participants:
- High School Graduate to 26 years of age.
- Need to have recommendations from church leadership.
- Need to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
How do I sign up?

After I sign up, what's next?
You will be contacted by two YMI representatives who will conduct a phone interview with you. You will be contacted shortly after to let you know if you have been selected.
What happens after I'm selected?
If you're selected, you will receive a packet of information telling you what country you will be going to, who is on your team, and what missionary you will be serving with. You will also be told how much you need to fund raise for the trip. Then, it will be up to you to start your preparation.
Tell me more about the types of trips you offer.
Here are the basic elements of both styles of trips we offer:
3 week experience
- 14-18 days in a foreign country or the inner city.
- You will train on dates that are mutually agreed upon by you and your teammates.
- Generally $2,700-3,200 for the 3 week experience, depending on country and related costs.
8-week experience
- Six weeks are spent in a foreign country or in the inner city working with a missionary.
- One week of training before leaving the country.
- One week of training a YMI Team at a Training Camp upon arriving home.
- Generally $3,800-4,400 for the 8-week experience.
Custom experience
If you have a desire to serve in the mission field for any length of time between 2 weeks and 2 years, YMI can arrange an experience for you. To design a custom experience, a YMI representative will work with you to decide what country you will serve in, how long you will go, and what type of ministry you will do. We will take into account the passions God has given you, and how you will use them to serve Him. Working together, we will create the best experience for both you, and the missionary you will serve.
