A YMI Team Timeline
Below is a rough timeline for a YMI Team from Training Camp until the trip. Not all teams follow this timeline, but this should give you an idea of what can generally be expected once your student completes training and is assigned a team.
August
Students gather at Training Camp locations for 5-day training. Here they find out who is on their team and where their team is going. Dates of the trip will be sent via letter after final arrangements are made with the host missionary and airlines.
Students apply for passports.
September - January:
Students complete ministry assignments in their church. They will need to give their testimony, give a Bible-based lesson, lead activities, and lead songs.
YMI will work very hard to try to get exact dates for the mission trip to the team during this period.
25% of trip funds due (October or November).
February - April
50% of trip funds due - February (Airfare purchased).
Continued work on ministry assignments here.
Photocopy of passport due.
75% of trip funds due (Mid-Late April).
May - June
Medical Form due.
Foreign Activity Permit (Consent and Release for trip) due.
100% of trip funds due.
Late June - Some teams will be invited to do a one week sports ministry together prior to their trip.
